Memories from mother Mathilde homeland

Qingdao is a beautiful seaside city on the southern coast of the Shandong Province. Qingdao is 10,700 square kilometer in area and has a population of 6.8 million. It is a modern port, but parts of the city are exceptionally picturesque, surrounded by the Yellow Sea in 3 directions and mountains to the east.

My Mutti was born there and only now I have fantastic images of her church ,school and house all preserved by chinese .

Old nameTsingtao was a German concession from 1897 to 1914. The German influence is still evident in the architecture of the old town, and in its brewery, which produces the well-known Tsingtao beer.

The city has been occupied by Japan twice, from 1914 to 1922 and from 1938 to 1945.
